August 9: Sedge Island Kayak Adventure

In partnership with Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center, grab your favorite adventure buddy and join us for a birding by kayak experience in Seaside Park on Sunday, August 9 from TIME. We will look out for osprey, pelicans, shorebirds and anyone else along the water.

Birding is for everyone. All are welcome on our friendly and respectful Beachy Birder Adventures!

We will meet at Island Beach State Park and then head out by boat to Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center. The Center is in Barnegat Bay off Island Beach State Park. It is New Jersey’s only Marine Conservation Zone and offers residential environmental education programs to participants 12 years of age and older. A short 15-minute boat ride from the Sedge Dock at Island Beach State Park will take us to the Center.

We will kayak so please be prepared to get muddy, sandy and wet. There will be biting insects. Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, layers, snacks, a hat, and binoculars if you have them.

We have ten pairs of 8×25 birding binoculars for you to borrow as needed, and we will have a spotting scope to look through as well.

Our outings are rain or shine but in the event of extreme weather we will reschedule for a more enjoyable experience. Let’s get birdy!

Meet at Island Beach State Park
2401 Central Avenue
Seaside Park, NJ 08752

Cost: $50/person (includes kayak rental)
Space is limited to 14 to ensure a small group experience.

Our purpose is to lead guided bird walks throughout New Jersey, encouraging all to appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature. Beachy Birder Adventures gives everyone a chance to be curious, learn and discover something new. Our walks are low key and meant for the bird curious. We slow-bird. We look to meet people where they are through lighthearted humor.
